Right? I remember a lot of people saying that those 'relationships' came out of nowhere. But when the kids had found the library, the library directly addressed it so I didn't find it very surprising when they did jump forward with things being how they are. That was one of the few things they fed you through exposition, though it can't be said for all the plot points. It's nice that there are people who still enjoy it!
